In the Aug 2010 compatibility checklist it does not state if SQL Server 2008 R2 64-bit is compatible with 7.5.2.  Is it?

Is there anything special needed for the 64-bit Server 2008 R2?

Thanks,

John

Not really, all fine - provided you use the slx provided notes for 2005. Or you can read an article here http://www.empath-e.com/documents/Bulletins/081009.pdf

Thanks, Mike!

I plan on moving the database today and will use the doc you provided.

Sooner than I thought!

I started installing the admin & servers and after entering the SQL Server 'sa' info for the sample and eval databases I received this error message:

Unable to retrieve SQL Server location

I have a feeling this has something to do with the firewall.  I opened all the basic ports (1433, 80, 1706, 2383).  Are there other ports that will be required to be opened?  Maybe it the SQL Browser (not running) that's the issue?

Thanks,

John

Don't install the demo database (the attachutil doesn't understand SQL2008) - just deselect this option. You can attach the demo one later if required.

All moved!  Everything seems to be working.  Time will tell.  I just have to go through the sync server and SpeedSearch setup.  Oh, and install the client on Server 2008 R2 64-bit.  Any caveats with that?

Thanks!

John

hi John

Good news, no - everything is fine there too (you might want to check http://www.empath-e.com/Support/resources.asp for all things 64bit, 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 etc !)

Regards
Mike
