We're planning on upgrading our SLX server from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2. When we run the upgrade advisor before doing so, we get a warning telling us to Remove the User-Defined Data Type "Date" from our SLX database, because R2 already has a DATE datatype. I've seen nothing about this in the forums...

Should I leave the user-definied type there as is? Should we nuke it?

Needless to say, I'm very hesitant to update until I know what havok this can cause...

Yes, you should leave the udf - makes no difference to operation of SQL2008 but will break SLX if you remove it.
