2GB size limit in MSDE 2000 for remotes

fiogf49gjkf0d I am running up against a 2GB database size limit for my remote users running MSDE (SQL 2000) on their XP workstations. We have some reps covering very large territories, and that is a political battle that I can't win so we're stuck with the large database requirements for several reps.
We are running SalesLogix v6.2.6 with a SQL Server 2000 main database (and no plans to upgrade to SLX 7 or SQL 2005 any time soon, another losing political battle I'm afraid). I am wondering if anyone has found either a way to enable larger than 2GB databases on MSDE 2000 or to get SLX v6.2 to work with SQL 2005 Express for remotes (even though Sage does not support it) - as we all know, just because Sage doesn't officially support something for SLX doesn't mean that it won't work...
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark |

fiogf49gjkf0d Mark,
When I have remotes that reach the 2GB limit I switch them to Network user type. Then configure their client to connect directly to the SLX server or give them a Citrix connection to the SLX server.

fiogf49gjkf0d There is no way to get around the limit. You should load Personal Edition (part of SQL2000) instead. However, you will need a license from MS for this (typically, as part of your site/SA license). Using SQL2005 for remotes is not recommended at this time - and will only be fixed in 7.2. |
