Attempting SQL Server Replication

Has anyone done this? I would like to set up three databases that are all replicated, but I don't want to use SalesLogix level synchronization. If you would like to know why, I will be happy to post that, but in a nutshell it comes down to location issues and administration, and SQL Server versions (can't run a remote office on SQL Server 2005). We are using SalesLogix synchronization, but we are now seeing a need to possibly move to SQL Server Replication.
I have seen steps in the SalesLogix installation and upgrade guides that state that if you have replication going, turn it off for the procedure - so I am assuming, or inferring, that replication works with SalesLogix. I am curious to know if it has caused anyone problems or if it'll work just fine. I have spoken to our business partner, Unison, but they have not yet dealt with it or had customers who have dealt with it - none of their other customers are sprawled out quite like we are.
If you know anything at all, please let me know - thanks! |

I have nothing constructive to share as I have never implemented SQL replication myself. However, I have heard NOTHING good about it. Best of luck.

Thanks Timmus...
I have heard mixed reviews myself about it... but I guess we'll see anyway. I guess if no one else has anything to say, it's time to run a test. |

If you're on SS 2005, you have a 'mirroring' feature available to you too - have you considered using that as well? Not used it myself, but it may be a less 'intrusive' option than setting up full SS replication. |
