Please help! Oracle connectivity issue
Posted: 02 Aug 07 4:20 PM
We're just getting a test instance of this set up. The database is residing on an AIX server. The database itself is Oracle 10.2.0.3 We can tnsping the database and can establish a connection through SQL Plus and the SalesLogix Connection Manager. However, when we try to log in through Administrator we get the message "Database login failed; unable to initialize data dictionary." I have tried Oracle clients 10.1.0.2 all the way up through 10.2.0.3 . We have heard conflicting information about how the OleDB provider DLL version must be greater than or equal to the version of the database. No such version exists yet from Oracle. Short of downgrading the database, does anyone else have any other ideas?

Others that I've heard from that are on the same version of Oracle have downgraded the Oracle version to resolve this (not just SLX problem either - but from others on this version of Oracle for other applications as well). I'm no Oracle guy, but IIRC the problem is that the Oracle OLEDB provider DLL is a lesser version than the oracle client and that is what is causing the issue.
