Well, the subject says it all. I've built an installation package (for remotes) for my client that works perfectly (or appears to) - everything installs, except for SQL Server Express 2005.

Manual installation of SQL Server Express 2005 after the package has run works fine.

Does anyone have any trouble-shooting tips or ideas?

Thanks.

New install or upgrade?

Since I see you are a Partner I suggest you take a look at the thread(s) in the partner NG on Upgrade.. you will see some interesting things.

Oh yes.. on upgrades, the install is looking for a "SalesLogix" instance..

OK, thanks RJ.

These are brand new SLX / SQL Server Express installs. No previous SLX or MSDE software on these PCs.

I have read through the posts in the NG and you're right, there's plenty of 'interesting' stuff there (perhaps 'worrying' is a better word?). Upgrades from MSDE are looking particularly interesting!

For now, the client is not too worried about having another manual step (install SQL Server Express 2005) as part of the install.

But I would like to know what is going on - makes me look dumb when I say that the automated install will install something and then it just doesn't!
