Our Org uses SLX 6.2.x currently for both Remote, and Network users. 1 Remote User that I have was independent, and is coming on board. He currently has ACT! 2008.
I have tried, Unsuccessfully, to install 6.2.6 of SLX on his machine. I get to the point of attaching the Database and this is what I get:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect())

So, I'm thinking, OK. The default instance it is trying to use is the SQL 2005 Express (.\SQLExpress). I install an MSDE instance (\\ComputerName) to correct.
attaching to that does the same thing. So now I am thinking security(sa is default and greyed out, but no pwd in pwd dialog.

A. Can the 2 Products Coexist?
B. If so, what is the best practice?
C. Am I gonna be coughing up the extra $$$ to get a Sage tech to help?

TIA

There was/is a combo of ACT and SalesLogix that will not work on one machine/system.. and I think you have hit on it.

ACT has a locked down SQL engine and the sa password is not available..

You may be SOL...
