Installation Package on CD
Posted: 17 Jun 08 12:11 AM
Hi there
Has anyone been able to create an installation package - say for the 7.2 SP2 remote client install - and distribute it on CD?
The problem, as I see it, relates to the fact that the drive letter for a CD drive may vary from one PC to another.
On one PC, the required SLX install shortcut may be:
"F:\V7.2.2 Remote Client Install Package\setup.exe" /v/qr
and on another
"E:\V7.2.2 Remote Client Install Package\setup.exe" /v/qr
You see the problem. And that's not all, three lines of the SalesLogix Client.cfg file are also variable and must be modified. Get these wrong and your SQL Server Express just won't install - and we all know how much fun that is
RTFFILEPATH=F:\V7.2.2 Remote Client Install Package
REDISTPATH=F:\V7.2.2 Remote Client Install Package
READMEFILE=F:\V7.2.2 Remote Client Install Package
So - has anyone found an ingenious way of getting round this - perhaps by using relative file naming somehow? (I had a brief unsuccessful try)
Thanks & regards
Phil
