We are running SLX V 7.2 under Citrix and plan to implement Exchange link (V7.0 SP1) to enhance our Outlook integration for ouir appr 400 concurrent user. Therefore we are urgently looking for some (detailed) documentation regarding field mapping, standard use cases etc. Anything which may help is very much appreciated.

Knight, you should be able to get this from your BP, or if you are a BP then Sage

We are a customer. Neither our BP nor SAGE is able to deliver such documentation at the time being. They are working on it... We hope that somebody else is able to help us out in the meantime.

Hi there

We are in the same boat as you - having all sorts of problems with Outlook/SalesLogix sync and hoping that Exchange link would be the answer - we have 60 concurrent users out there atm.

How have you found Exchange Link?

We have some basic documentation but can find precious little information with on slxdeveloper or any other online forums.

Any info greatly appreciated

Hello,

our experiences with EL vesion 8 varied a lot. It depends on what should be synchronized (e.g. only contacts), at which time intervall and if an uni or bidirectional sync is needed. We executed very detailed bidirectional tests for more than 1000 users covering contacts, activities and tasks sync. At the end we decided to stop the implementation as the results were found as instable and not that what we expected. Maybe newer versions are more satisfactory.

Hi Knight

Thanks for the reply - can I bother you a little more.

What were the instabilities that you experienced .. I am guessing duplicated Activities, missing Activities, moving Activities etc?

What did you do after stopping EL implementation - did you go back to INtellisync or another product?

Thankyou very much

Hi Tom,

your guess is quite right. The main issues we found were activity related. The concept differences between Outlook appointments and SLX activities (e.g. outlook start/end time vs SLX duration; schedule, accept/decline/tentative, follow up of activities) makes testing very challenging and time consuming. Additionally we found that user admin is a huge extra workload for that amount of users we face.

As we are using a citrix environment IntelliSync was no technical alternative for us. The only chance we had is to stop the project at all or live with what is available in the standard. So we decided to enable the AOI (which syncs meetings & phone calls to Outlook) and to establish suitable usage rules.

Hope i could clarify this a bit more.

Hi

when I asked my BP about using Intellisync, I could hear the sharp intake of breath. I've had variable success but am interested in "AOI" Is this related to your Citrix environment? How did you enable it? Sounds like this solution worked for you?

Activity scheduling is being pushed hard with our sales guys and its important that SLX/ Outlook sync works consistently and reliably.

Which flavour of SLX are you on?

Hi

AOI stands for 'Advanced Outlook Integration' and can be enabled via the SLX Administration tool (Tools->Options->Outllok tab). The AOI enables a automatic one way sync from SLX to the Outlook calendar. When looking for a full sync of activities etc this function will not really help. For further details i suggest to contact your BP.

We are currently using SLX V 7.2.2
