SLX 7.5 New InstallationYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

I'm stumped.

Trying to install SLX 7.5 Express Server on a Win2k3 server, SQL 2008.
Everything is patched and up to date, logged in as Admin, and when I start the SLX installer it immediately errors with The SalesLogix Express Installation requires SQL Server or SQLExpress...

I've also tried combinations of SQL2000 and SLX 7.2 with the same results.
Now I've even resorted to reading the Implementation Guide.
Please tell me I'm missing something really simple?

Thanks!
Bob

Hi Bob,

I'm not 100% sure but I am guessing that is looking for a "default" or "SQLExpress" instance that is not there.

In the long time since "Express" server became an option (I think it must have been back in 6.1 days???) I have never, ever, used it to do an installation. Just choose a standard install and do the Admin Tools and Servers.

Reading the implementation guide is recommended whatever you do.

Okay, I just tried a Standard installation, and when I check the "Install DB" checkbox, I get the same results.
So I continued without the DB install, and it appeared to install correctly.

Now when I go back to install the DB, I get the same error. Very well, so I'll manually connect the databases and let you know the results.

The problem seems to be due to a bad SQL installation. I uninstalled everything, installed SQL Express, and everything is working fine now. I'll go back and try to correct SQL 2008 and get it up and running correctly.

Thanks!

Bob, be aware of one subtle (but v.important) difference to SQL 2008 - it caught me out !
