Problems with a new install?

we're setting up a duplicate install of slx on a different server, to test our migration to 7.5 from our current 7.2.
I've gotten everything up and running on the server, and with the SLX client installed *on* the server, i can access it just fine. But from a connected network machine, i can't access it.
The server is found in the server settings dropdown. The proper database is found in the "Select SalesLogix database name" dropdown, but (after entering username/pwd) when I test the connection, it doesn't work. Says "Test connect failed"
Any suggestions on the best way to diagnose this??
Thanks
Tony

What version of SQL are you running? Are you using the SQL client (Recommended)? If so, is it also installed on the Server?
Is the SQL server accessible from the client? The way that SLX Works, the client does connect directly to the DB server, so if the DB is not accessible from the Client, it will also not be able to validate (although you may get a "Catastrophic failure" error). Run the SLX PRofiler, check if it is even querying the Database when you attempt to login.
Set the SQL Client to use the TCP Library (remove the requirement for an authenticated session)....
Hope this helps you get started.... |

Thanks, it did help enormously. Problem was I had the ports open, but SQL Browser set to manual and it wasn't started.
Appreciate the helpful response!
