I am trying to assist a Windows administrator with installing Saleslogix network client on Windows 2008R2 server (which is actually on a terminal server).

What the problem after installing Saleslogix and the other required components; I open the Saleslogix Network client and following message is always displayed:

  Either there is no default mail client or the mail client cannot fufill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set is as the default.

We have configured Outlook and set is as the default mail system and tested sending emails but the same message gets displayed when opening Saleslogix.

I suspect you are running a version of Office (2010?) that is 64bit. This is not supported and doesn't work. The issue is the same with XL (you'll find the buttons grayed out) and Word (templates won't work) - as Office 2010 isn't "discovered" by SLX if Office 2010 is running in 64bit mode. Current recommendation is Office 2010 only in 32-bit mode.
