fiogf49gjkf0d To add some more information:
We work in a supplier/distributor industry, so we do not have a typical salesforce. By this, I mean that we do not have opportunities or leads in the standard sense, an order is an order, and that is that. Though the original installation of SLX was before my time, I believe someone saw this as an opportunity to use the 'Opportunies' section of SLX for order entry purposes. To me, this is completely backwards because our orders are entered into SLX, and then the order information is migrated to the ERP system. This causes a lot of, what I would call unnecessary, overhead.
To fix this, I am looking into developing web form for order entry that will be used to enter orders directly into the ERP system. This should be straightforward enough, but where my questions is how do we get the sales order information into SLX from the ERP system? Currently, custom service reps can search for a PO number in the opportunity section in SLX, and all of the order information will be displayed. With my proposal of entering orders directly into the ERP system, is there a best practice for pushing order information from the ERP system to SLX? Should I look to set up some SSIS jobs to move order information from the ERP system to SLX, populating the opportunity table with the sales order information? Is there a better method to accomplish this? Any help would be appreciated. |
