Hi,

I wanted to try drag and drop functionality in SalesLogix 7.5.

I installed SlxDesktopIntegration.exe file from 'Enhance SalesLogix' tab in SalesLogix web client.

As per one of the documents, when we install Slx Desktop Integration feature the old slmn.dll file gets replaced with a new one.

In my case the slmn.dll is not getting replaced after installation of SlxDesktopIntegration.exe.

Hence, the drag and drop functionality is not working.

Even i am not able to attach a document to the attachments tab. When i uninstall the Desktop Integration feature then attachment functionality works fine.

I have windows xp, SalesLogix 7.5.3.4339 and Internet Explorer 7

Please advice how can i get this drag and drop functionality working on my system.

Thanks in Advance!

Regards,

Anubhuti

The slmn.dll is 'sticky' and tends to not get deleted\overwritten as several programs are all vying for its use. If a 7.5.2.x version is still present on your machine then installing 7.5.3.4339 may not delete the 7.5.2 version....and installing Desktop Integration won't replace the 7.5.2 version either. unregistering the 7.5.2 slmn.dll and then installing Desktop Integration has worked for us ...

cd \progr*\saleslogix
regsvr32 -u slxab32.dll
regsvr32 -u slmn.dll
regsvr32 slxab32.dll
regsvr32 slmn.dll

There are numerous articles on this (even up here!).....

in general.......scrub\uninstall 7.5.2 out of your machine. COMPLETELY. Then install 7.5.3 as a local admin on that machine. and as a local admin when you login to the web client and request the Desktop Integration feature be installed.

Only the local admin (not a user or power user) can install SalesLogix components correctly. This is a Windows Permissions issue, too frequently ignored by SalesLogix installers and can't be emphacized enough. Even if you have to grant the user local admin rights for a few hours, uninstall and install SLX, and then revoke the local admin rights that's a requirement that you can't get around...

Hi RJ,

Thank you so much  for the prompt reply.

I have installed SalesLogix on a new machine which did not had SalesLogix previously.

We use SalesLogix 7.5 with Service Pack 3 and Hot Fix 09.

After installation, the version of Slxab32.dll is 7.5.3.4233 and Slmn.dll is 7.5.2.2376

I read in manual 'Applying Hot Fix Package 02 for Sage SalesLogix 7.5.3', that this Hot Fix has file 'SlxDesktopIntegrationSetup.exe' which contains 'SLMN.dll 7.5.3.4301' .

Below is an excerpt from manual 'Applying LAN Hot Fix 09 for Sage SalesLogix version 7.5.3'

"Note -  For best results, Sage highly recommends installing version 7.5.3 LAN Hot Fix 02 with 7.5.3 LAN Hot Fix 09"

Is the absence of Hot Fix 02 causing this issue ?

Please advice!

Thanks,

Anubhuti

Desktop integration (from the Web) should get its own slmn.dll from the Library folder in the Web Site (i.e. it's probably IN the .exe that the user downloads from the Web Site Login Splash Screen). Try unregistering the 7.5.2 slmn.dll and deleting it....then go up to the web site and click on the Enhancement button......I think that the Web HF 02 Desktop Integration .exe should bring down the correct 7.5.3.4301 slmn.dll

I'm having this issue with a Win7 64 bit machines and 7.5.4 webclient. Fully patched, but it shows his Integration as not being installed, yet he has all the buttons necessary in Outlook 2010 to record the info. On a drag and drop he's prompted to install the Integration (which he has done) but to no avail.

UAC has been disabled on the machine, and we've even gone to the extreme of making him a local admin on the laptop itself.

I found that he can't use any of the mail merge functions because it doesn't think it's installed either this morning... Something I'd planned on picking someone's brain at Summit this week, but why it's happening is something that's been plaguing me the past few weeks.
