SLX 6.2.4 HF5 Class Not Registered error

fiogf49gjkf0d We just rebuilt one of our workstations (wipe, install XPSP2, got all hotfixes, etc. etc.) and installed the SLX Client on it, using a network install that has been slipstreamed to 6.2.4 HF5. This install has worked well for all our other workstations, and seemed to go just fine on this workstation. However, when opening SLX, it initially comes up with a blank shell - i.e. the toolbars and such are there, but no A/C/O window opens by default. The Opportunities view opens fine (no opportunities in the system though) as do the Ticket List, Activities, and Calendar. Trying to open the Account or Contact detail view from here results in an error that is slightly different between the two views but mostly the same. Here they are:

I tried re-installing the SLX client, as well as applying SP4 and the hotfixes manually (instead of using the network install) but that didn't help. I also went through and used REGSVR32 to register all the dll's in C:\Program Files\SalesLogix, but still no joy. I've also tried loggin in to SLX as the affected user from a different workstation (no errors) and as a different SLX user on the problem workstation (got the same errors). I am also about to try logging in as a different Windows user on the workstation to see if it might be a corrupt Windows user profile, however I suspect I'm going to get the same error. As a side note, the user normally logged in to the machine has full administrative rights on the workstation.
I'm not sure where to look next to troubleshoot this... any suggestions? The problem seems limited to only this workstation - all the rest of the machines on the network are functioning just fine with no errors. |

We have had a couple of clients run into this as well. I am not sure were exactly the issue got introduced (IE: which hotfix) but if you run a regsvr32 on SLXControls.ocx you will find that the issue gets resolved. Maybe some of the gurus out there have an idea why this happens. it is a PITA but fairly easy to deal with as far as issues go  .
Command to execute from the run prompt.
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Saleslogix\SLXControls.ocx"
