Slx 7.0.1 and SQL2005
Posted: 05 Jun 07 9:45 AM
I have questions about the SQL components that need to be installed, and Slx Connection and SLx DataLink settings.
I am building a Slx 7.0.1 environment. The environment contains 3 Servers...
SQL2005 DBServer,
SyncServer (where I will install only the SyncServer),
AppServer (where I will install the SLX Server, Admin, etc)
I will also have...
50-100 Desktop PCs (which will be setup as network clients),
50-100 Laptops (which will be setup as remote clients)
I am getting conflicting responses from Sage on how things should be setup.
My questions are:
1. Do I need to install the SQL Native Client (ie SQL2005's client components) on the SyncServer and the Desktop PCs?
2. What setting do I use in the SalesLogix Connection Manager dialog?
3. What setting do I use in the DataLink Manager on the SyncServer?
4. What setting do I use in the DataLink Manager on the Network Clients?
I am hoping that someone already has a SalesLogix 7.x and SQL 2005 installation running.
Thanks,
Frank

1) Absolutely you MUST ! You will error if not.
2) Use the SQL Native Client for connection to the dbserver
3) Use the SLX Connection to the SLXServer (no db settings)
4) Same as 3.
There should be no conflict - this is the preferred method, has been working for us for years (seriously!) at every client.

Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I have V7.0.1 installations but they are using Oracle or SQL 2000. Do you have a SQL2005 installaiton active?
