SalesLogix Server Service stops

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi folks,
I have a client that is suffering from the SalesLogix Server Service stopping on a daily basis on their server.
OS on the server is windows 2003 small business server. SalesLogix is 6.2.4
It seems that the problem happens randomly at any point during the day.
The sync server runs upon this machine as well.
On the server a dialog box announcing a c++ error is thrown up prior to the service stopping
At 10:30 today it stopped - I have taken a copy of all the events in the event log of the server (which includes the C++ error)
Can anybody shed any light on this for me. - I have already tried a complete reinstall of Saleslogix.
I have just asked the client to do a sfc /scannow to see what happens.

fiogf49gjkf0d I could only guess this might be Microsoft DST patch related. I have never seen a CBMediator error message, but would tend to think it has something passing to the sync server. Can you upgrade your server and clients to 6.2.6?

fiogf49gjkf0d In the implementation guides for version 7, there's a suggestion of defining SlxServer as a service with an automatic startup. Maybe that would help.

Don't know if this is what you are talking about, but I have had a similar issue with SLXSystem.exe shutting down - even when you set it as a service. Here are my notes for fixing it:

When you install SLXSystem.exe as a service, it is supposed to create a registry item:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SalesLogix\Shutdowndelay(Dword) with a value of 0 so that the service does not automatically shutdown after 1 minute of inactivity (as it was originally designed to do on a local computer).
In 7.0.1 - it is not creating this registry item. It was counting down and shutting down the service after one minute of inactivity causing users to no longer be able to login to SalesLogix through terminal service.
I have created the registry item and the service is now running as designed. Make sure to recreate this item if the server is ever reinstalled or a new server is put into place. |
