fiogf49gjkf0d We are no longer using remote users or synchronization and I'd like to know how to disable/remove synchronization and the sync server.
Thanks in advance. |

fiogf49gjkf0d Change the user to Network users then you should be able to delete the Synchronization license.
I an not sure if this will stop the provider from creating wglogs for the Network users. You may have to set logging off in the connection string to stop the provider from writing wglogs. |

fiogf49gjkf0d I was given this KB article by SAGE support yesterday.
How to remove the Sync Server from the database Entry Type: Informational
Product: Sage CRM SalesLogix
Application: Administrator
Version Reported: 6.x
Description: How to remove the Sync Server from the database.
Possible Resolution: Change the NOSYNCSERVER values in BRANCHOPTIONS and SYSTEMINFO to the SiteCode found in SYNCSERVER.
In this example there is one record in BRANCHOPTIONS and one record in SYSTEMINFO. The BRANCHOPTIONS record has a SiteCode of NOSYNCSERVER. SYSTEMINFO had a PrimaryServer value of NOSYNCSERVER.
Run the following SQL statements from SalesLogix Administrator, only after confirming that the above statements are true.
Update BRANCHOPTIONS set SiteCode = (select SiteCode from SYNCSERVER) where SiteCode = 'NOSYNCSERVER'
Update SYSTEMINFO set PrimaryServer = (select SiteCode from SYNCSERVER) where PrimaryServer = 'NOSYNCSERVER'

fiogf49gjkf0d Good to know. I remember back when we decided that no one should have remote access (way too many issues with people not syncing, etc) that I just left it on and running for just one user - myself.
The reason I left it on just for myself was because I knew somewhere along the line someone would require remote access (director, executive, travelling rep, etc...)
It wasn't a problem to have just one remote user to sync, and true to my thinking, we do now have 2 users who require remote access. So it was worth keeping the SyncServer alive and running. Less hassle when it came time that someone required it.

It has recently come to my attention that the WGLogs directory contains 11.3GB worth of UAB4 files. We have not required a sync server ever, and I would assume these files are leftover from the initial integration/testing period. With the exception of 3 files, all others (840,000+) are from 7/2006 or earlier. Given we do not use synchronization services, the fact the logs are not current, and that we will not being using sync services any time in the near future, is it safe for me to delete the log files? Thanks. |

if you have a sync license loaded ten queuefiles will be generated all over the network and the sync service needs to be run to collect and process then (in this case delete them). removing the sync license will stop the process and sage has a procedure for that, probably one in the archive too. |
