Subscription Rules and Security Question

fiogf49gjkf0d I am not sure if what I am seeing is normal or if I have some sort of bug in front of me. First of all, running Version 7 with no patches.
I have a user, call him X that doesn't have access to an Account (ABC Corp). Before cutting him a new Database, I put in place a Subscription rule which without Security Applied would include that record [Account.Account Starts with A]
When I cut him the remote database, I was expecting that it would filter out this Record; however my finding is that the Record in question did make its way to the Remote client.
So, my question is whether this is the correct behavior. I wouldn't want to include Data on a Remote that is not visible nor can be used by that user.
I got the following out of the Implementation guide which seems to indicate I am experiencing a problem.
Creating Subscription Rules Subscription rules specify the criteria for selecting accounts from those the user has access to (based on account ownership). For example, a subscription rule may request accounts for all companies in the state of California with revenues over one million dollars. |

fiogf49gjkf0d I may be misunderstanding your situation but it sounds like you are trying to send user X an account where he does not have authorization if he was a local network user? But you are trying to send him this account through subscription rules as a remote user?
If that is the case it still won't send him the account, or rather he may (not 100% on that) have the account in his remote database but he won't have access to it because of his security rules. A remote database doesn't ignore the security of the master DB. |

fiogf49gjkf0d Marc:
I am not trying to send the user an account he doesn't have access to. What I am saying is that the user received an account that he didn't have access to.
I built a Rule as a Template that sent all accounts where the UserField4 has some data. After we cut the remote, and as part of troubleshooting an issue (which turned out to be unrelated) we found out that the account in question was on his system.
Now, my understanding is that he shouldn't have received that account to begin with. I can only imagine If I get a rule that says all Accounts that start with A, I don't want every single account on the DB that starts with A to make it down to the remote, only the few that he/she may have access to.

fiogf49gjkf0d Raul,
I believe that is correct. If you have two sales territories, East and West and user A is a member of the East 'team' then that user will not have access to accounts in the West team, network connection or remote.
I'd check the ownership of that particular account in the master database and make sure it's Owner (SECCODEID) is correct.
The subscription rules will filter for the user all accounts they have security access to based on the SECCODEID. |
