How to tell when users last synchronized
Posted: 04 May 07 12:52 PM

fiogf49gjkf0d I wrote a SQL stored procedure to check when users last synchronized and send them an email if it has been more than 10 days. I had based it on the LASTSENDDATE in the USERSECURITY table. It seemed as though it was working fine, but now I've got a user who said he synchronized but he's still receiving an email telling him to sync. When I checked his LASTSENDDATE, I saw that it hasn't been updated. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks, Dave McGill |

fiogf49gjkf0d Dave,
Have the user sync a few more times for posterity. If the issue persists take the users SITECODE - do a search in the OUTFILES directory on the host for *.(SITECODEhere). Check the files and their date in your results. If the user did in fact sync and the files in the OUTFILES directory are older than the date the user reports to have synchronized then there might be an issue with that users remote database and you might be better off cutting the user a new remote database.
Also, this same problem will show it's face on the remote. Check the INFILES directory on the REMOTE. If the sync client is not open or running this directory should be empty. If it is not empty then you will most likely need to create a new remote database for that user.
In the meanwhile check out Mike Spragg's Synchronization Report article! http://www.slxdeveloper.com/page.aspx?action=viewarticle&articleid=46

fiogf49gjkf0d This sounds kinda familiar... I seem to remember that LASTSENDDATE did not update if the remote user had not made any changes to their db. We've run into that when dealing with managers who are primarily consuming information and not entering it.

fiogf49gjkf0d Thank you David and Walter for your replys. I did try having the user sync again (and again), but the system still didn't change his LASTSENDDATE even though it said he sent a file back to the server when he synchronized. After he made a change to a contact in his remote db, the LASTSENDDATE was updated when he synchronized. Mike Spragg's article is very good and I should be able to use his VB code to populate the table, and still use my SQL job to send the notification.
Thanks for your help!
