Subscription on contact level
Posted: 02 Aug 07 3:21 AM
I am looking for a way to stop syncing certain contacts to remotes and ros, because these contacts are for example deceased, or the account has been set to status purge (deleted).
We don't want to remove the contacts from the main database due to the fact that we use the history records for report purposes.
The first thing that came to my mind is to create a subscription rule for accounts which have the status purge, but by doing this we would miss out on the contacts which have the status purge but belong to accounts which are still active.
Has anyone experienced this kind of situation before?
running Saleslogix 6.2 SP6.

As subscription operates at the account level, you cannot do this.
Maybe you could consider moving the unwanted contacts to a special 'purge' account or accounts?

If you don't want to remove them, but you don't want people to see them, why don't you change the SECCODEID on the contact to something that the remotes don't have access to?
As far as removing the contacts goes... you can script the contact delete so that the contact & address records get removed, and then just clean out the contactid from the history entries. Keep the contact name. This way the entry will still show up under the account. As far as reporting goes -- as long as you are not doing a join between history and contact, then it should still show up in your reports.

Thanks for the response,
We have chosen to create a new account to which only the data manager has access to. Contacts which are not supposed to be seen by the users will be moved to this account.
