Has anyone run into issues with the Blackberry not having enough space for all the client's account information? On the PocketPC, you can store the data on a storage card but not on the Blackberry. You are limited to the devices memory. How have you worked around this limitation? I know that I can create a group that limits the number of accounts that are synced. Please post examples of how many accounts and months of history you were able to fit on your Blackberry.

Of course it can/will happen on BB's...

Even if you go to one of the new BB's that has expansion AFAIK the option to store on the expansion (for a BB is not yet supported.

Since I see you have indicated you are a BP, you might make a post in the Partner NG's (mobile and Wishlist) on it as well.. You will also find info there you will not find in a public forum (like this one).

Hey Tom,

For a little background the ability to have a storage card on the BlackBerry is a fairly new technology as is the capability of having a file store to work against programmitically. Memory is a concern on BlackBerries and when implementing the solution on a BB you should be aware of the amount of data the customer really needs. It is very hard to give metrics on how many accounts/history months to have on the device. The problem is that each individual company has different numbers of dependant records. So for example when you sync down an account, you also sync all of its addresses, contacts and their addresses. You also have the core data requirements such as Picklists. I cannot comment on the Mobile teams direction at this time (honestly I do not know) but I can imagine that these kind of things will be investigated at some point. I always suggest looking at what the customer 'needs' and customize the synchronization process to bring back only that data. You can also show the 5.0 subscription functionality where as a user can pick and choose accounts in the field instead of having a large upfront group.

I had this exact same problem when I first started SLX Mobile. The device would sync for hours untill it finally ran out of space. I learned that not only will the user sync all their activities but also all the activities of all the other user's calendars they have access too. In my company all users could see all other employees and many of our employees are bad with completing old meetings, this will also overload the BB. I had to limit all the user with SLX Mobile to only the calendars they actually needed and it worked fine after that.

Good Luck
