Are you running v4.5? Do you have the issue with the Corum Mobile Connector Service stopping frequently? Is there any fix for this?

Also, if I want to use Architect, they said I have to purchase some licence from RIM for $100, do you know what that is?

Hi Tom,

I don't exactly *use* the mobile project, but I do develop for it. I've not had any problems with the service stopping, but like I said, I'm not using it on a day to day basis either.

The RIM license is needed if you are developing for blackberry since the cod files created for SLX mobile for blackberry are compiled using the RIM APIs.

Look here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/downloads/api.jsp

Quote:
To register for access to the BlackBerry runtime, application and cryptography APIs, you will need to fill out the web form. Once registered, you will be sent a set of keys via email that will allow you to sign your applications using the signature tool included with the BlackBerry JDE. An administration fee of US$100 will be charged to a valid credit card to complete the registration process.

When you're sent your signing key you'll add it to the build config file and it will be used whenever a build occurs in the mobile architect.

Does that make sense?

Hey Tom and Ryan,

Some of the RIM API's are considered protected (Messaging, networking, Compression). To allow the customizations (COD) files to be uploaded to the device and register correctly they need to be signed. When the customizations are deployed the ANT buildscript has an entry for signing the compiled resultant COD file. At that point you need to enter your password which is verified back at RIM and the file is then Signed and deployed. This step is only required if your deploying to an actual device. If you do your development against the simulator/mds you do not need to sign the cod file. I have the customer get the signing key as part of the implementation process.

Now there are 2 build scripts for the BB. You can edit the config file for the deploy to remove the step for signing (Comment it out and remove it from the list of steps) so that you can develop and deploy to the simulator without intrusion.

As with the Service stopping, have you looked into the mobile server logs to see any indication of error.

I'd agree that Mark is the man when it comes to the mobile product. He's a great guy to have in these forums for anyone using mobile!
