v7.0.1 -> v7.2, Plugin Upgrades

I'm working with my development machine on the v7.0.1 to v7.2 upgrade but had some questions before I get started, hopefully this will limit any problems I may encounter during the test upgrade. Can anyone chime in on this?
When the upgrade is done I'm assuming that any plugins that have not been marked as changed in the Upgrade Workplan document will not be overwritten or have a new copy installed, is this correct? For example I have customized the Account Detail form but it is not listed in the workplan, so the upgrade will not install a new copy with a version number of 7.2?
Of the changes made in the workplan there are only 3 plugins I've customized that have been identified as changed in v7.2: Sales Dashboard: Sales Dashboard Detail System: Lead Detail System: Manage Targets Is it safe to complete the upgrade then migrate my changes into the v7.2 forms for these 3 shortly after the upgrade, or should this be done before I let any users back into SalesLogix?
Thanks in advance! |

Question:
Did your system started at v7.0.1 or earlier versions?
The reason I ask is because the bundle includes all items for 7.0.x as well (as shown on the list). So don't assume that it only contains items from 7.2. What does this mean, it means that if you are building a Customizations bundle, you need to take all the items on the list into account to create your bundle, while you probably would only need to take the 7.2 column into consideration for Retrofitting new changes.
It is safe to migrate the changes after the upgrade. I typically do it before, but if you don't have a parallel system from which you could compare the changes, it is now safe to compare changes between your version and their version.

Thanks for the quick reply Raul! We did start at v7.0.1 so I shouldn't have much to worry about then.
I've got a parallel install on a development laptop, so maybe what I will do is update the database one last time from last nights backup, then run the upgrade on it. After the upgrade I'll redo the customizations on the 3 7.2 updated plugins and pack them up. That way I can just bring them into the production system after the upgrade and have less headaches, I hope! |
