Cannot Delete Sync Server
Posted: 12 Feb 08 5:57 PM
I have just upgraded from 6.1 - 7.2. Everything was going fine. That is until I added two Synchroization Server licesnse.
Now SLX wont connect. "Logging Server does not have access to the specified ...". We do not want to use the SyncServer.
I cannot delete the license nor can I remove the reference in Administrator\Systems\SyncServers.
Can any one help?

You need to make sure the logging path is setup and the users have Full Control access..
It's in the installation docs..
.. and no.. you cannot remove the synch licenses.. easily.. You have to "hack" them out. A delicate process on a production system. If not careful you can wreck your db beyond repair.

Let me just second what Bob said above. Its actually OK to have 2 Sync licenses, won't hurt. Your problem is as the error message says: lack of access to the directories. We usually define domain-wide groups for SlxAdmin and SlxUsers which have full rights. Then we add the users to those groups. Also check that the Sync directories are correctly shared, have the correct permissions, etc.
And its easy enough to remove the Sync licenses if you really don't use remote-user synchronization. But its not for the light hearted.
