You need to follow all the steps in the document "Upgrading Sage SalesLogix from Version 7.0.x to 7.2.pdf" found in the docs folder. There is a workplan, starting on page 3 that details what needs to be done and how. It doesn't get any simpler than this I'm afraid! |

Like Mike says.. the SalesLogix provided upgrade documentation cannot be any simpler!
Even a good... certified SalesLogix engineer/developer (like Mike, me, etc...) uses the workplan! -- RJLedger - rjlSystems |

I've done the upgrade before, and the document was definately invaluable. Seasoned developers and engineers refer to it as well since there's alot to consider. As you go through it, you will find certain steps do not apply to your environment, i.e. if you are running SQL, you can skip the oracle steps which shortens the document or if you don't have a sync environment, you can skip steps related to the sync.
When I completed an upgrade from 6.2.6 to 7.2, I reviewed with my local business partner prior to the upgrade and I was able to eliminate about 10 steps making it a bit simplier. It's important to note that with all the peices of saleslogix, its not as simple as installing a service pack in windows or incremental updates within your version i.e 7.2.0 to 7.2.2. There are steps that apply to the database, the provider, sync server, remotes etc.
With this being said, you may have some questions about specific steps in the document (which I did) the first time I read it. Please feel free to post those questions and I'm sure one of us here would be glad to answer it. |
