I have been hearing about the disconnected web client feature in saleslogix v7.5. how does that work? is it like a remote? will it have a client database? will it be syncing with the host database.

You are on exactly the right track - it is a remote, and syncing is exactly the same as for a remote. The significant differences are:

1) Sage Personal Web server (I may have the name slightly wrong - it's a very basic web server) is installed on the remote PC as part of the install.
2) Access to the remote database is from a web browser (with the pages being served by the web server). Currently the only supported browser is IE (because of ActiveX reliance), though Firefox and Chrome are much faster if you can do without the ActiveX parts.
3) The initial sync process is slightly more onerous than for a 'standard' remote. I cannot remember the specifics, but 1 or 2 complete (I mean client and server) sync cycles are required before the remote web site is deployed and ready to go.
4) (Based on my limited knowledge) If the web site is redeployed at the server level, the entire site syncs out to the disconnected web users (not just the changes). This is around 50MB (uncompressed) of stuff - not good.

The ActiveX stuff is not such a consideration because, unfortunately, Outlook and Mail Merge are not currently supported on this version of the remote web client

Thanks Phil & Stephen. One more question, is it that every 7.5 web installation has to be a remote or is there something like 7.5 web (without remote database) and 7.5 remote web client.

The main central web server remains. The web remote will be (IMHO) the exception for the short to medium term.

The central app server/db server set-up is as before, but with the addition of an IIS server to serve your SLX pages. The preferred access method is internal via intranet (via VPN connection) rather than external, for security reasons.
