Custom Groups Not Working After Upgrade From SLX 6.1 to 7.5 - Malformed Group Query

We have run thru several upgrades from 6.1 to 7.5 in our DEV environment, and each time our cuctom groups fail due to a "malformed group query" error. We have 1 group per rep, and the group is needed by the 3rd party software that runs on the rep's blackberry (used for synchronization). The only work-around we have is to edit the group to delete all of the fields from the layout tab except accountid and then it works. We were told by Sage that we needed to re-create/modify all of the groups post upgrade, but we have around 700 of them, so that will be a lot of work and they need to work immediately after upgrade. Has anyone run into this? Any ideas on how to update the groups using a query/TSQL? Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Yeap...
There are a couple of items that I am aware Sage is looking into.
When we upgraded (and we had upwards of 20,000 groups) we also changed schema, so I wrote a utility to fix schema, but working with SAGE they have identified that there were a few things that changed that required the groups metadata to be updated, but it only applies to certain issues: Special Characters, Use of Literals (specially with Subqueries).
If you have only a few groups, you could try editing them, removing any special Characters, and if you have any Embedded Subqueries, move them to the bottom of the Conditions list.
As stated, I have built a couple of update utilities for the Groups, so it is possible to automate it, as long as you know the cause of the problem you are running into. |
