Hi,

One of our client business is planning to go live with MS office 2010 and Windows 7 starting next year. Currently we are using  SLX 7.0.1.

Since SLX 7.0.1 is a retired version, I suspect it will not be qualifiled(tested).

Appreciate if anyone could provide some useful information regarding SLX 7.0.1 compatibility with these new plateforms. Also any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Karna

Hi Karna,

I seriously wouldn’t even attempt to run SalesLogix 7.0.1 on either platform.

hmmmmm.....so would you suggest to go for a thorough testing?? Laughing

I have confirmed with Sage about this and even they have never tested the same.

Is there any reason why you are not upgrading SalesLogix to the latest version?

The problem you will have is if and when you do hit an issue you will get no backing from Sage (which is understandable)

Upgradation depends on whether client wants it. Before putting this option to him I just want to go through all the possible ways available.

The possible ways are:

1) Don't upgrade SLX.  Doing this will guarentee user issues with Windows 7 and Office 2010 based on the previously posted "compatibility checklist" and no support from Sage no matter what the issue might be.

2) Upgrade SLX and be compatible with Windows 7 and Office 2007 (note the "compatibility checklist" DOES NOT mention Office 2010 at all) and receive support from Sage when/if a problem arises.

These are the choices.  The client will have to accept one or the other.  Which is the greater evil?

John

BTW: Office 2010 is not mentioned at all in the previously posted "compatibility checklist".  Check with Sage support on Office 2010 compatibility.  It will likely work but for support you will have to be on a version of SalesLogix that is supported by Sage.
