Hi,

We are planning to upgrade from SLX 7.0 TO 7.5. Right now we have SLX 7.0 windows version and we are planning to switch to 7.5 web version.

My questions -

1) Is it possible to install and run SLX 7.0 AND SLX 7.5 application servers on the same network environment ?

2) We have tons of customized legacy plugins that we use on daily basis. Are they supported in SLX 7.5 or not?

Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sundari

1) Yes, it is possible to run both versions on the Same Network, but unless you are going to 7.5.2 you may have issues with clients that need access to both systems and that run Mail Merges. With 7.5.2 that should no longer be a problem.

2) Your plugins are supported, but you will need to thoroughly test them. I have seen some Legacy code in the past fail.
Also, you stated that you were planning on going to the Web version, in which case it does not matter how you customized your Windows client, you would have to build all those changes into the Web Client.

Your best bet is to engage your Business Partner to help you migrate the system.

Hi!

My company is planning to upgrade from LAN ver 7.0 to Web 7.5. We have a lot of customized

plugins. My question is how do we upgrade the plugins to 7.5 ver. Is there a tool that can do this or

should we rewrite code in ASP.NET.

Another question is should we first upgrade to LAN 7.5 and then to web 7.5.?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thx

Upgrading SalesLogix is typically a very Involved Process and requires a bit of knowledge of SalesLogix. Typically, the best approach is to engage a SalesLogix Business Partner that would be able to provide you with the Assistance to complete your project.

That said, there is a tool that does migrate some of the Customizations from the LAN to the Web, but I have not used it myself.

The Web code in SLX is not written directly on .Net, but it does generate .Net Code.

Technically, you need to upgrade your Environment to 7.5 (you may not need to upgrade your plugins to 7.5, but it may be a good idea to do so), and then you can start developing on the Web Client.
