Do any of you business partners know when the new service pack will be out to correct DST fix? Thanks ML

Welcome...
FYI.. if you are at SP5 than there are NO plugin changes in SP6 for the LAN!.. Just:
a - Run the executable upgrade on EVERY client, every (SLX) server, every remote/remote office and client(s)
a - run the bundle in:
1 - de-select everything except for the last line which does a version number update to systeminfo.

Remember.. the above ONLY applies for LAN at SP5.. otherwise you do need to deal w/plugin changes.

We run the business (partnership) on v7 and have run in the v7 SP1 already.. NO problems.. a bunch of plugin changes though... All of our test/dev systems for 6.2 are upgraded to 6.2.6 and we do work on v6.2.3+ w/ them.. no problems.

For the web, we have a lot of customizations in our 6.2.4 templates. Do you know how much changes in the web between 6.2.4 and 6.2.6? I'm concerned we are coming up on DST and may need to rush the changes into production. What happens if we do nto have this installed, only the workaround after the MS TZ patch?

You can upgrade server/provider etc. you should not need to update web bundles/components. In 6.2.5 this is a bundle for web (but no need to apply, they do not fix dst issues). There is no web bundle for 6.2.6

Mike,

I've applied SP6 on the web and it included a bundle. Did it not have any changes? I went from 6.2.3 to 6.2.6 and there weren't a ton of changes (I listed the templates in another post somewhere), but there were changes. So are you saying that there were changes from 6.2.4 to 6.2.5 but they didn't affect dst and there were no changes between 6.2.5 and 6.2.6?

Got it - the changes affects the exe/dll (server/provider etc) - not the templates/web.

I've applied 6.2.6 for the web, an update from our current production 6.2.4 that has several customizations. So far our testing is going well. There were a couple of web action changes (must be from 6.2.5). I've worked around those. We will plan on installing 6.2.6 on 3/2, and come in 3/11 after DST to see if it works.

I've read a couple of places now that 6.2.6 has been pulled due to bugs. Not sure yet what that will due to my implementation date.

The ONLY bug is an issue with the SalesLogix Email Client. If you are a lotus,GroupWise, etc shop (and not Outlook/Exchange) then it's a problem..

Otherwise.. NO problem and go ahead and use the copy you have already downloaded.

Don't believe the garbage/rumors that have been posted to another (public) forum about the SP being pulled for other reasons.. it's just the Slx Email client.. period.

I went back and tested the Mail Merge. (We use Web 6.2.6, SQL Server, Windows 2003, Exchange/Outlook.) I did receive an error - The Mail Merge was successful, but there weere errors copying some or all of the resulting documents. Please see the Mail Merge log file D:\... for more information. The log file indicated it cound not create file "C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\Not Found\Base Letter..."

I was shocked to see "Not Found" as part of the path. Production 6.2.4 does not have this error. Yes we have customizations in the web, but are we sure the bug does not impact Exchange?

No, we are definitely sure the bug *does* affect Exchange - and Outlook, Lotus Notes, GroupWise, Outlook etc etc.
However, that's unlikely to be your issue in this case. Did you try re-running with setting a different path?

For web-based mail merges, where do I set the path - is it on the business customer's computer, or on the web server?

Well, for all of the running around we all did for DST, I have not seen many postings of issues AFTER DST. Our install and testing went well. No issues in SalesLogix 6.2.6. And Sunday / Monday were uneventful.

Anyone hear of issues or of upcoming fixes?

The only problems we had were were that after upgrading to 6.2.6 the Outlook Integration disappeared for most users (the 'Send SLX' button just wasn't there). Running InstallOutlookIntegration.bat on the affected workstations fixed it. Where they were using Terminal Server, we had to turn off the Outlook option to 'Use Word as your email editor' to get it working, which was a bit strange.

We confirmed the necessity of a date mover utility but the ratio of affected activities were too low to warrant creating one. Normally dates are calculated to their UTC equivalent by working backwards, that is use the local timezone shift + daylight savings calculation to determine the UTC date.

What happens is before the patch, activities between 3/11 and 4/1 will be an hour off. After the patch, created items will be correct. The reason it doesn't affect many people is that after the DST + SP6/SP1 patch, any activity "touched" will move it's UTC timestamp accordingly. This mainly includes anything rolled over but can also include any activities users change manually.

The problem for us was this tool was necessary ON THE DAY we upgraded. I didn't find out about the necessity until the week before the 11th, so I didn't have time to prepare plus my calculations would have been way off. I figured ALL activities needed to be moved, not just the activities with a modifydate of before the DST patch was applied. Because of that moving window where some clients were updated days or up to a week later than the rest, a one-size-fits-all tool wouldn't have been enough.

I guess I know what to do the next time this happens. Hopefully it'll be a while before then.

It's going to happen again THIS fall.. a one week window but in the opposite direction.
