Hi, I am new to SLX. I was working for the past 2 months. I got the great opportunity to upgrade SLX 6.2.3. to 7.0. Can any one share the process of upgrade. We have so many customized table and plugins.
What should i do first. Kindly give the idea.

I have recently started an upgrade from 6.2.3 to 7.0 and I would advise that you start by reading the document called Upgrading Sage CRM SalesLogix from Version 6.2 to 7.0. The process to do the upgrade is not difficult, but it helps to understand everything involved before you start.

I have not yet started work on getting our customisations working in 7.0 yet, so can't advise on that, and would be interested to read any suggestions for a stragegy.

The main task is to determine if anything that has gotten modified on version 7 includes items that you have Customized.

If the answer is no, then it is a fairly simple process.

On the other hand, if the answer is yes, then it would require you to analyze what has been changed, verify if that change is still appilcable in light of your customizations and make a decision.

Once you have done that with all items in question, you either have a list of items not to install, or a bundle to apply after the upgrade that includes your customized items that are affected and that have been retrofitted.

Please make sure you read the Upgrade guide and understand the process. I have only expanded on how to approach customized items, but there are certainly several other factors that need to be taken into account.

Thank you for your interest and i have read the upgrade document.
I have planned to do the upgrade by the below steps.
1. Read the upgrade document
2. analysis of new changes in Ver 7.0
3. analysis of customized changes Ver 6.2.3
4. Create a analysis document
5. Install ver 7.0 in the test environment
6. Install customized details bundle from 6.2.3
7. Testing.

The above steps is ok or can any one give suggestion on that. Thanks

Your plan looks appropriate. Make sure for #6 that you create a project for all of the customizations. By creating a project you will have all of the customized plug-ins in one place. When the time comes to upgrade your production environment you can bundle the custom project and install it to production.

I would not do it this way (and we do not when upgrading customers)...

A - Install a copy of your existing 6.2.3 on a test ben and make sure it's fully "isolated"
B - Follow the instructions for upgrading fron 6.2.x to 7.0.x
C - Release EVERYTHING when upgrading
D - Go back ad release your customs one at a time and validate them - make changes as necessary
E - Build a v7 Project w/EVERYTHING that is custom in it (tables, lookups, calc fields, etc.) on teh v7 system AFTER testing
F - Bundle out the project.

1. Upgrade for real doing steps B & C above
2. Add in your bundle from F above

That should do it.
