AreaCategoryIssue - Migration Tool Anyone?Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Hi all,

Upgrading from 5.2.1 to 7.1.

I just discovered today that the cascading picklists of Area, Category and Issue in the Ticket Detail View do not migrate across properly. The new schema holds this information in a new table called AreaCategoryIssue as opposed to cascading picklists. (A good design move - bad migration code)

Does anyone have a custom migration tool I can bend to my environment?

Thanks,
Carla

OK...

This is odd - I did a 'dry-run' upgrade for testing purposes and this time the areacategoryissue migrated to the new table. ... ??? Scary! I have no idea why, if anyone knows what kicks this off, I sure would like to have that information before going live next week. might take a bit of stress off if I don't have to cross my fingers the whole time!

If you're live this isn't probably relevant but I believe that happens either during the initial conversion or it's included in the initial upgrade bundle I've often forgot during multiple test upgrades. In your "good" database, I'd check the bundles and you may notice it.

All that's happening are fields are moving from the picklist table to areacategoryissue. You could do your own imports in DTS or similar or even just construct something to pass into Adminitrator's Execute SQL. We didn't use support before 6.2 so we didn't have any custom area/category/issues to worry about.
