SalesLogix 7.0 Data Conversion Error

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi guys
I'm trying to run the upgrade routine on a 6.2.2 database. After entering version etc details and selecting the SLX database to be upgraded, I get the following error message appearing:
Error attempting to determine database version. Please check the connection string.
Does anyone know what this might mean? I've checked the DBVersion field in SYSTEMINFO and it's 6.2.
Cheers.
--Edit-- As I had a blank ADMIN password, I did not check the 'Allow Saving Password' box. But (and after reading the instructions again) it ran fine when I did this. |

fiogf49gjkf0d Phil, Not to bring out the "ape" in you, but that version 7 conversion routine is very tricky. I too had similiar problems. The answer seems to be that the 6.2 database: * Must be on a 6.2 server * That server cannot be a virtual server - it must be an actual physical box * The lower level ('sysdba') connection must be a version 6.2 definition * Version 6.2's SlxServer must be running.

fiogf49gjkf0d Robert, agree it's tricky - but definitely not a requirement to have it on a physical box - I do test upgrades in VM all the time. |
