Import / view Calendar Data for external UsersYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Hello,

I want to Import Calendar and History data from a GoldMine database into SalesLogix.
My problem:
In SalesLogix there are only 4 Users (and 4 named Licenses) but the Calendar / History Data is associated to ~30 Users

Now, when importing an Activity with a UserID that is not equal to a SLX user:
1. the Activity Tab shows "Unknown User"
2. The Admin gets a Message, if he wants to accept or decline the Appointment
3. I cannot view the Calendar/Activity List of the other 26 Users

How can I import this Data so
1. that the User is displayed
2. The admin does not get the "accept/decline" message
3. I can view the calendar of users that are NOT Users within SalesLogix

I am using Inaport for this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Marco

Normally I would leap to respond, but this is more of an SLX issue than Inaport - I hope the gurus have a suggestion.

Inaport has the ability to map GoldMine users to SLX users, and set up record ownership etc correspondingly, but the users do need to exist. See Tools - User Map in Inaport to establish a mapping, and see the functions usermapid(), usermapname(), slxsetowner() and slxsetacntmgr().

What you might be able to do as add users then retire them, as they do not then take up a seat. That should let you create the events and link them to a user. However, you cannot see the calendar of retired users.

You may want to re-create the old users in SalesLogix, but mark them as Retired. Then you can map them in the import, and not have them default over to Admin.

The other thing is that you will want to take the OLD calendar stuff and map it to SalesLogix History, not Activity. This means taking two passes through the calendar.

If the users are actually active in some way where you are maintaining their schedules for them but they don't touch they system... get 1 concurrent user license and make all of your calendar people concurrent users. Then they can be active, have calendars, etc... you can even log on as any one of them to look at their calendar as they would see it.

thank you, we already thought of the option with 1 concurrent license - but the German order management of Sage said, that we cannot mix named with concurrent licenses - so we would have to
replace all of our named licenses with the expensive concurrent licenses.

Can YOU run an installation with both, named AND concurrent licenses?

I have never heard of that rule before.

I know of several (US) sites that are running mixed.

There have been different levels of client license in the past (sales edition vs professional vs enterprise) and you can not mix levels. (Perhaps that is what the Sage employee was thinking you were trying to do)

However, since a remote is a named license, and you might have a call center running shifts, job sharing, or infrequent management users, then having a few concurrent licenses make sense.

If I were you I would go back to Sage and escalate the issue.

Marco - Sage DE are wrong in this respect - you simply need to get approval from your RSM to do it - and you need a business case *AND* the cost is 1.5 times the normal user price. *BUT* you can mix them just as soon as you get the license (which is the hard part !).

Mike,
Where did this thing about getting "approval" from Sage come from.. NOT true here in North America.. totally not true. You just go to your BP and purchase the license(s)!

Yes, that's beside the point though RJ where you are. The regional OpCo's decide how the licensing works (for that country/region) - and this is the way it works "across the pond"

It's always been "open" here. In fact, we get involved with license "swaps" (trading x named for a concurrent), quite a bit.
