Interface SLX V7.2.2 with Oracle

Hi
My company is about to go live with Oracle. We are hedging around how (and where ) to integrate the two packaqes. Orbis Taskcentre has been suggested as the solution to "how" and seems to offer potential. . "!Where" to integrate is still being hotly debated.
Can anyone give me the benefit of their experience? I'd appreciate any comments regardless of the flavour of SLX or ERP system.
Thanks

Key Important details missing here.. 1 - What is the "app" (or apps) on Oracle you are interfacing with? 2 - Is SalesLogix on Oracle or SQL server? .. to start with..

Hi - Trying to see the downsides of moving to Siebel within our soon to be launched Oracle environment. Doing some digging around and these seem to be the 5 most salient reasons why, given our cuirrent SLX user base, we might decide against moving to Siebel. I don't know the Siebel product very well but am I correct in saying SLX has a (much?) higher degree of functionality compared to SLX.
Comments welcome
Thanks
CRM - Advantages and Disadvantages Using the Siebel/ Oracle Offering
- Avoid cluttering up ERP database with prospect data that may not convert to business for many months or even years. (if at all) - CRM is much less difficult to code and easier to maintain than ERP (1) - Not generally cost effective for CRM hosted solutions with < 200 users (remote and network) (2) - Siebel implementation requires purchase of Oracle integration tool to establish integration between Siebel and Oracle database. Cost estimate $30k per CPU. (2) - No local database facility for remote users in Siebel i.e. remote user has to establish connection to internet to access database.(TBC)

Don't forget the first 3 hurdles you are going to have to overcome:
1. You have to buy Siebel (I dont know the actual financial impact but I suspect it is substantial) 2. You have to customize Siebel to match your SLX implementation. This process also invariably generates new requirements. You may be lucky to put these off until phase 2, but I would not count on it. 3. You have to migrate the data from SalesLogix to Siebel.
Just to be clear, I don't think any one product is the perfect solution. If I was in your position my main objection to switching products is just that: Siebel is not perfect and I would bet substantial dollars that the integration is not perfect. Oracle will claim their systems are integrated seemlessly because they are both Oracle prodcuts. Siebel was not owned by Oracle for the majority of its lifetime so this is marketing and nothing more.
Why should your company invest in a new product when you have one that works? Based on promises? If Oracle is so confident they can replace SalesLogix at the same cost to your company and without the additional development and support costs, ask them to put their money where there mouth is. Otherwise you are being sold on Siebel being much more valuable than SalesLogix. I dont buy that for a second.
HTH,
