You could export the SF.COM information to csv files then create a custom import mapping using the SalesLogix Import Wizard.
You may want to contact Inaplex (http://www.inaplex.com) and Scribe (http://www.inaplex.com/) to see what they have. |

Hi Andre !! Nice to hear from you again - how's the world of Greenhills !!
I spoke with David at Inaplex last week and they are going to be extending the Migrator tool and include SF.com as an option. However, this is not available yet. Contact me if you want further details (mike.spragg@empath-e.com).
Regards Mike

All we are currently working with a small company in the UK that has a data extraction tool for Sf.com. It will very neatly extract all the data into seperate CSV files for each entity. If you want to know more let me know. |

Hi Andre,
I see you are moving from Salesforce to Saleslogix can I ask why. We are currently using Saleslogix and some of my colleagues are looking to move to Salesforce. Personally I wish to stay with Saleslogix so any information to sway the vote will be useful please.
Thanks. |

Chokri:
Forgive me for jumping in on this thread but as a few people know I have been forced to live with a mixed environment. Service, Accounting and our Training department are all on SalesLogix and happy with it. Sales and Marketing wanted to move to Salesforce (actually one manager wanted it very badly). So I can speak to this issue from personal experience.
If you have done any customization or rely on certain business rules I would strongly recommend that you do not move to Salesforce. We are facing huge nightmares trying to get the same functionality out of our SalesForce system that we had with SalesLogix. Reporting within Salesforce is TERRIBLE - read that actually to say abysmally poor and disgustingly inadequate (yes, I have just had to deal with trying to get a custom report requirement to work and the limitations of SalesForce's reporting process has made this impossible) .
So, put simply, if you have any customizations I would STRONGLY recommend that you re-evaluate the SalesForce model. Besides the difficulty / impossibility of doing certain customizations within their system there is also the high cost / time spent to work on implementing the customizations. Not to mention the fact that Salesforce as a model is a "gift that keeps on giving" or more accurately a "gift that you keep paying for" .
Just my two cents for whatever the going rate is on such things - considering the value of the american dollar, I should up that to be two dollars worth of advice |

Hi Chokri,
I have no expierence with SalesForce althoug just look at Ted's comments on your post.
We use SalesLogix remote clients which has the benefit to work with the system without having a network connection. As soon as you have a network connection, you can sync your information to the server. Even when you do maintenance on your server the remote clients can still work and are not interrupted.
Regards,
Andre |

Without going into details... I'm Ted's BP and can personally and professionally testify that Ted is "spot on". The SF "thing" has been and continues to be an absolute nightmare for him.
SF does a great job marketing their product but it's a classic "bait and switch" operation. They low ball everything.. especially the technical side... and the next thing you know you are having to put up more $$$/time/effort.. it's almost a bottomless pit.
If one absolutely has to have a hosted/SAAS web solution to crm than consider teh following options: A - Work with your SalesLogix BP to see if they can setup a "hosting package".. (I know that we would do it in a heartbeat for anyone). B - Look at SageCRM.com -- RJLedger - rjlSystems "...Customer First..." |
