Import Salesforce.com Attachments?
Posted: 16 Apr 09 11:20 AM

| Has anyone been able to import attachments from Salesforce.com? I'm able to get the records into the attachment table. But the actual attachments directory contains files that are not readable. There is no file type on them? |

The SF.com Attachments table has an ID field and Name field. SF.com names the actual file the ID (e.g. 00P70000002C74wEAC), therefore there is no file extension. It'd be easy enough to write a little script to read the Id's and Names, find the ID in a folder, and then rename the file to be SLX-compatible. When an attachment is added to SLX, it is copied to the network share specified in the SLX Administrator and renamed to be ! & Attachment.AttachID & OriginalFileNameWithExt (e.g. "!Q6UJ9A000B5LSage SalesLogix Implementation Guide.pdf"). If you're not a programmer, I'm not sure if there is a SF.com data migration tool available.
