Anyone using this product? Our BP can't talk more highly about it but I'm looking for additional opinions.

We are looking at it to clean up our database of dupes which we seem to be plagued with. Our company is growing through acquisition so we are looking at merging databases quite often. Needless to say this will create MANY dupes. We'd like to keep these to a minimum as much as possible. Those of you who've used Paribus, does it work as well as they like to market themselves?

We have been using Paribus for SalesLogix for the past 4 months (or so). I would HIGHLY recommend this application for cleaning up duplicate data. Using this tool, I was able to eliminate over 100,000 duplicate contacts and thousands of duplicate accounts from SalesLogix. In addition, I have used the Paribus tool to identify duplicates in various other databases.....it is an AMAZING app!!

I do not work for Paribus. I work for a small division on BMS. Yes, 100,000 contacts is accurate. We started with a universe of over 350,000 physicians and non physician contacts. This tool is truly amazing. I work in Sales Support, and was able to use this tool with little help from our IT folks. The users will need to know how the database files are structured (to some extent) and a bit of SQL to join tables. I found it easy to use once I understood how things worked with our SalesLogix customized fields. Best of luck.

Thanks for the input. I don't think our database is quite that messy but we do have a lot of dupes to take care of.
Any one else? No offense Donna.

If you're not using Paribus what DO you use to take care of dupes?

I have not used Paribus, but have seen the demonstration and got a good Impression of its matching capabilities.

Now as far as what I have used....
I have built several tools using different criterias to make matches, then flagging them for the user to process them. When it comes to names ussually have used Soundex on SQL queries, but haven't gotten as sophisticated as Paribus when it matches Initials and such. Now this approach was used on a system that was being appended quite frequently.

On other systems where the data is not as dynamic, I ussually have built several VBScripts / SQL views to find matches, then logged them to a table. Depending on the requirements I have either then killed duplicates or have added some customizations to allow the users to decide which records are to be kept

I've not used the product myself, but my support guys do. From what I know of it Paribus is a great tool and does a great job. The only complaint I've heard from my support guys is that it can crap out on large databases and performance-wise it can have a hard time when working with a lot of records. But that's not from first-hand use. Like I said, I do hear great things about it, but thought I would mention the only bad thing I've heard about it (and sorry I don't have more specifics)

Marc,
We use Paribus on a regular basis to keep our database clean and very pleased with the product. While other methods of de-duping are available, I've not found any that work as consistently and reliably. In our view, given the reasonable price of the app., it was an easy decision to purchase.

It takes a few hours to get up to speed on the terminology and how it works, but once you're over the hump, you'll have a lot of "Ah-ha" moments when it finds things you likely never would have discovered. Once found, the really great part about Paribus is that its merge tool deals with all of our customized fields, unlike the out-of-the-box SLX tool. As our database is highly customized, this feature is invaluable and saves us several minutes of work on each dupe we process.

Lastly, we've found their support to be very responsive.

We too use Paribus and while I can't say deduping is something we enjoy, the tool is very good. The sales contact that we deal with Dale is excellent and most helpful.

We have about 60K accounts in our system and it really helped us in getting it right. We have TONS of customizations and it respected our data model.

My company has been using Paribus for about 6 months. About 50K accounts, 60K contacts. We frequently import large lists of leads from various sources resulting in many near dups. Paribus been a very effective tool in helping us manage the resulting dups.
