fiogf49gjkf0d Are you going to be ready to purchase slx aware loading tools? if so , get scribe or inaport and you'd be fine.If you have lotsa loads coming up , purchasing the tools would be worth it.
Otherwise.You can use import wizard to get data from excel or even write a program and get the data from Excel and populate to slx tables with the slx provider(this is also sync aware)

We don't have any remotes so I'm not sure if this works for you.
A great tool for importing data are the integration services (MS-SQL Server 2005).
The best thing: You can use the SalesLogix Provider (SLX-ID's will be generated).

fiogf49gjkf0d I've used different methods of importing depending upon the source and complexity. Scribe is very good for complex imports and where multiple runs with the same attributes are necessary. In fact, Scribe is the best utility for constant production feeds.
For one time imports of Account and Contacts (with the possibility of some history and notes) from an Excel spreadsheet, I normally use a different method. I import the spreadsheet into a new Access database. I'll populate several tables (Account, Contact, Notes, History, etc.) using Access's import utility. I then use simple Access queries to fix up the data. The trouble with Excel is that you can end up with some special characters in text fields, and strange field justifications. I'll also add a few fields and put in default values. For example, a "status" field. Or Account Manager. Its also easy to examine the resulting tables for invalid values and/or formatting.
With clean tables in Access, I then use the SalesLogix Import Wizard. Creating import maps is rather easy, and you can save the maps for future use. And running the Wizard is a snap. Again, I wouldn't use this method for everything, but for Account/Contacts in Excel, it works well for me.

fiogf49gjkf0d For our trade show leads and other lead sources received in Excel files, I created a SalesLogix application that reads the Excel file directly and performs an import. The design of this app anticipates that most of the Accounts are in existence already in our database, but permits the user to either exclude selected Contacts, or create new Accounts where needed. I built this after considering Scribe, the import wizard, the new Lead import functionality and just about anything else that I could find. We have some custom fields that needed to be populated in the import, and nothing else we considered met our needs. The resulting tool permits an administrative user without programming skills to perform an import. Nonetheless, pursue this path with caution as it require a lot of time! |

As another poster mentioned, Inaport is able to do this kind of activity and save a lot of hassle in the process.
Inaport is avvaialbe from Sage, or from one of our channel partners. You can get an evaluation from our web site (www.inaplex.com).

As I responed in the other forums (to this same question from you), use the builtin Import wizard and do an ado connection. It works just fine. If you are on v7.0 you can also do "dup" checking on import.
Info is in the on-line help files.
