Importing Word documents as SalesLogix letter templatesYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

How do I import a Word document created outside SalesLogix into SalesLogix as a letter Template?
Currently, I have SalesLogix users creating their own templates in Word and then asking me to 'put' this document as a template into SalesLogix. The only way I know how to do this is to create a new blank template from within SalesLogix and then copy and paste everything in it. There has got to be a simple way of just importing the Word document and making it a SalesLogix template???

Thanks for any help!

Easy....
Within SalesLogix Merge...
a - Create a new BLANK template
b - Use Insert->File from the Word menu

Caution.. The style from the source will not be there .. If you want it then do:
Tools->Templates and Add-Ins->Organizer...[Button]

Thank you!
That helps. I am still not getting it exactly the same as the original doc, I have to adjust the page setup first from Letter to A4, the margins... and I find the Organizer very fiddly.

But thank you, I will take this approach from now on.

I never knew this. Definitely something I'll try next time the occasion arises.

How I've done this in the past is create a new template in SalesLogix and open the doc I wanted to bring into SLX in Word.

In Word, I would then do a CTRL-A to highlight the whole document then CTRL-C to copy it. Then in the template I would do a CTRL-A and then a CTRL-V to paste everything in. At most I'd have to changed everything back to left justified, but it worked. Oh one last note.. headers and footers would have to be copied independently as well.
