Hi All,

I am trying to import contacts into the SLX DB from an excel sheet.
The excel sheet contains the contact related details like lastname, firstname, account, address, phone, etc.. Using the ImportWizard utility to import the details. But when I import, already existing accounts are getting created again with new account ids.

Is the Import Wizard only useful for importing all new accounts and contacts?
Is it possible to import contacts and their details for already existing accounts?

Am I missing some important step anywhere?

Thanks,
Ravi Kiran

The ImportWiz only does inserts. You will need to use something like Scripe, InaPort, or write a custome VB Script. If you search through this new group you will find many articles on the subject of imports.

Thanks Frank for your reply.
As suggested, I did go through the import group to find out more on the imports area.

I would like to rephrase for my understanding.

a) If I need to import new contacts with all details for existing accounts, this is not possible directly by using the Import Wizard. For this I would need to use the tools mentioned above or write a custom VB Script.

b) Had it been to import new contacts with all details for completely new accounts with all details, then the import wizard would be very useful.

Am I correct?

Thanks,
Ravi Kiran

Your other option is to import them as leads.
That enables you to manually dedupe them on the way in as your convert them individually to contacts.
Slow and tedious, but it might be what you are looking for.
