we are currently using Scribe software to link (via an ODBC driver and a Saleslogix Adapter in Scribe) to link to an Oracle database and import data from the Oracle database into a Saleslogix database. This configuration seems fairly straight forward however we have had situations where some of the data is not getting updated in Saleslogix. I am looking at an alternative way of importing and exporting data to and from an Oracle database. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What specific data and fields columns(in slx) are we talking about here?

Updating the contact, address and company tables. Fields concerned are contact name, company name, all the address fields, and company name (if one does not exist it creates a new record).

How does that oracle system know which entity to update in slx? by contact and account names? normally names can be very confusing. abc company inc and com incormporated is different. You have to use a tool like paribus to dedupe this if thatis the case.

Another option is to write the ID to that ora system whenever a new slx contact/account is created ? can you do that? do you have remotes in your slx setup?answer can change depending on that.

and finally when you say sometimes it is not cmoing thru thru scribe, did you check the logs etc in scribe server(i dont have the server component installed and i do my processing a lil different way)

Tell us which direction you can proceed. Some shops(or some bosses) dont like some integration techniques;we have a lotta ppl who are hell bent upon writing things to a textpad before taking it to another system and any file transfer has to be a secured ftp )
