Sharing a Group (or query) with other usersYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

We have just purchased SL and after using it one month I have created a Group showing how many phone calls each Salesperson is making. My problem is how to share this with other people without having to create this on every system in the office. I originally did not have admin rights, but even with the change I do not have access to Share Group?? Also our Admin cannot see the Group I have created??

I am open to any suggestions.
Thank you.

You should be able to right-click the group label and select Sare Group.

Which version of SalesLogix are you using?

It is grayed out!! I have Admin rights, but I think they were assigned after I created the group.

Open Manage Plugins in Achitect, set the Tyoe Filter to Groups, ACO, find your group and make sure you are set as "Developer."

If I create a query that I want to be user specific, rather that creating a query for each account manager/user, I create one tab and on the condition for account manager, I use equal to :userid and release it to the team. What this does is it will display only those records for the account manager that is logged in a viewing the tab. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you, this did work, but only the ADMIN can still make it available to the others in the office. Do you know if there is a Security Level that will allow myself (not the administrator) to open up certain reports to other people?

Thank you.

Forgive me I am vry new to SL. This is a great idea, but I am getting nothing to show when I change the condition for the account manager. The code I used was Account:Accountmanagerid equal :userid is this correct or was I mis-reading your suggestion.

You are correct, but unless you are listed as an account manager on an account, you won't see a return in the tab. To test it, you would need to log into the database as another user that would be listed as an account manager on a record. The tab pulls in for the user that is logged in. As for releasing a tab to other users, the user that created the tab can release the tab to other slx users without going through architect by simply right clicking on the tab and selecting share group. The SLX user picklist will open then select those users you want to share the group with. I hope this helps.

I really appreciate your input. Thank you. I did find that I had to check the box under the "userid - use value as a literal" and then it works. Also, I cannot use the share group, it is not available?? Our Admin has looked thru various places to give me rights to use this, but to no avail - do you have any more helpful hints on this?

Do you know if when you make a change, we have to go back and remove it from the list, then re-add again. I have tried CTL F5, but that did not seem to work, so the Admin removed it and then put it back and the changes showed up??

Thank you again.

If you are using 7.x, your admin should be able to go to your profile and under the function security tab, there is a switch for sharing groups. Be sure that that is enabled.
