Getting Started With SalesLogix Development

Hello Everyone,
My name is Michael, I recently saw the new addition of forums and I would like to ask a question to some experienced SalesLogix Developers.
I recently, attended the Sage SalesLogix LAN Developer Course in Phoenix. I’ve been using the product for about a year and decided I wanted to expand my knowledge with it both for where I’m working now and future endeavors. I’m 25 and about two years out of college with some programming experience (I took one entry level Computer Science I class and one entry level VB class and a follow up advanced course on VB). When I took the course I took it in 2003 and I found myself having to catch up the current development in VB (VB 2005).
I felt I did fairly well in the course, I could not complete 5 course book tasks with two of them being “advanced topics” not covered on the exam.
I’d like to take the exam again but this time I want to be ready and I’m finding it difficult to figure out where I should start. I’d like to get some good books to assist me but I’m not sure what would be useful to me and what would be a waste. What I found interesting about the test was that I scored better on the practical (scenario) part then the non-practical part.
I reviewed the online resources recommended by Sage before and after the course and during the test however I still felt I had a gap I want to close.
Any recommendations on additional reading materials and test strategies are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Mike,
Thanks for your responce. That certainly gives me alot of hope and confidence since my first shot at the exam yielded better results in the practical application. I will certainly consider going out and purchasing that book from Stephen Redmond which I am sure is filled with plenty of good code and scenarios to review. |
