Computer Management -> OPEN FILES and MMC
Posted: 23 May 09 8:48 PM
Hi there,
I need some direction on how I would be able to write some code to extract the information from a .msc file. I have created a snapin using the MMC. All i require is the data stored in the Computer Management -> System Tools > Shared Folders -> Open Files. So i require the data in open files. We are trying to display the data in the Open files in a web page. This is to see who is currently using the certain files. Is this possible?
If so could someone please tell me on how I can extract this data from there and possible display it in like a webpage, etc.
I have had a a search on the net but can not find anything that gives me any direction.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
gurjit

You could try this, but not sure if you would need any special permissions to execute. I have tested this on a VBS file, so it should work on an ASP page, again, as long as you have the necessary permissions.
Dim computername
Dim containername
computername = "ComputerName"
containername = "DomainName" 'Or workgroup name if stand alone
On Error Resume Next
Set container = getobject("WinNT://" & containername & "/" & computername & "/LanmanServer")
for each resource in container.resources
Response.Write resource.user & vbtab & resource.lockcount & vbtab & resource.path & "
"
Next
Set container = nothing
