SalesLogix Library Documents- 'Save In' Issue
Posted: 08 Sep 09 1:42 PM

Hello,
We have an issue with the word documents in SalesLogix Library- When any user opens up the document and tries to save it- it points to the server/drive/folder where the origianl document is stored in SLX whereas it should point to some local drive by default. Does anyone came across this kind of scenario. How do we set up or force SalesLogix to point to save the documents in My Documents as default location. We tried MS word's Tools/Options/File Locations/Modify. It still points to the network folder where the original document is stored.
If anybody knows how or where to set default location for 'Save In'- please let me know.
Thanks! Sundari |

The SLX Library is not intended to be Read/Write.
In general, the user's should not have permissions to modify the Library folder (or its contents) on your server.
That being said, Network users are still opening the Library from the Network directly, so the Save functionality will try to go there. I could see how SAGE could modify their code to make a Temp Copy and then open it (which would point the Save As to the location of the Temp file), but as stated, the Library is not intended for RW access.
I think you need to make sure that your permissiosn are properly set on the Share drive so that user's don't mistakenly overwrite the Original file, and then handle it as a Training issue (Use Save As, click on My Documents, etc, etc, etc...)
