Hi All,

I have a couple of developers starting soon, and where they are good VB / SQL Devs, they have never seen Saleslogix before in their lives.

I've talked to my SLX BP regarding Admin and Dev training and they haven't exactly come up with the largest number of suggestions.

So, just wondering if any of you lot out there provide this service. We're based in Ringwood on the South Coast of the UK - so please no offers in Japan etc... As much fun as that would be, my departmental budget is not that depart-mental. For the training we would either have to come to you or hire out a function room somewhere and take laptops.

Mike, I know you'll probably see this anyway, so let me know if this is a service you guys provide.

Cheers,

Guy.

Hi Guy

It's not something that we do routinely as, generally, people find that the development experience compares to nothing like the IDE of, say, VS.2008/10. However, that said, if they are used to VB/Scripting/SQL etc. then picking up SLX Dev should be a doddle for them. Personally, you won't get far with a 1 day training course (anyone who thinks you can is patently wrong). It should be measured over a few weeks/months - with repeated exposure to the environment, how to use it, what tools are available, setting up a dev environment etc. plus sound exercises to go through at their own pace. . As for materials, dev guides etc. then - in the main - the SLX examples plus SDK and winhelp with the schema, functions, AB etc. are best places to start. Unfortunately, it's one of those things that you "know how to do" - but construciting a course to cover it takes an age and never really satisfies the need. Bit sized chunks over the course of a few hours per week would be better than 1 6 hour course which would just leave them "hanging".

However, I'd certainly like to explore this further with you - send me an email if you wish to discuss further. For example, a few afternoons/workshop sessions to cover out the basics, how it all hangs together etc. would probably be a good start and digging deeper over a period of time etc. plus abilty for phone/G2A support would probably be a good idea. It rather depends on how quickly you need them "on-line" !

Regards
Mike
