Due to the fact that SalesLogix is acquired by Swiftpage, I am really interested in any opinions about the future of SalesLogix?

Do you think, we will have only a web client in the future?
Are you afraid about freezing further devolepment in SalesLogix?
Are there any news from Sage or Swiftpage about the future of SalesLogix?

Cheers,

Thomas

Hi Thomas

These questions are very valid but, currently, a little too early and I don't think anyone knows the answers yet.

However, Sage/Swiftpage are starting a round of BP visits (we're seeing them tomorrow) - and your questions are already on my list! I will update this post when I know more.

Regards

Mike

No, you won't. Initial meeting was quite encouraging. Re-brand is limited to just removing the name "Sage" from everything. So, will revert to the name/brand of SalesLogix. Seem to be capatalising on the existing brand (which, of course, is destroyed right now) but providing upgrade paths from ACT to SLX plus the SaaS stuff for ACT! Appear to be committed to continuing current trends and see the investment as a long haul rather that the VC's just ripping out the funds/assets in short order.

Offices expand from Denver to Scottsdale + UK Offices (to handle EMEA) and Dev to be expanded plus joined to idea share and move forward the platforms together.
Obviously, have an uphill struggle to convince prospects who are Swiftpage compares with Sage, FTSE100 - but then so did SalesLogix originally.
Commercials for BP's remain/honoured - albeit subject to compliance etc.
Company expands from 50 to 300 - so, that's a huge increase and will take time to work through.
Everything we are used to (Summits, Bootcamps, KBs, Community etc) will be taken with them or replicated (but, NO SAP crap!!)
Windows/LAN will continue - but they want to add more features to provide a reason to stay for existing users.

All in all - very much "watch this space", "Business as Usual" and definitely not a sale for sale's sake (in their regard).

IMO,     I would like to see SWP avoid the same mistakes as Frontrange.   FRS cut a lot of partners during their take over and it proved to be a bad move.   I think SWP should embrace not only partners but independants as well.  Because this software is rather complex most people make their buying decisions from advice of these people.   I was not a fan of MS CRM for a very long time, but I have to go where the money is despite my personal opinions.

I think SLX pricing is now outdated.  I would like to see an aggressive pricing restructure to regain market share.

No offense to SWP , but other email systems are just simply better.  Either revamp the service or integrate better with the competition.

Foucs on best-fit niche markets.   I tend to think SLX works best in B2B industries where there is a complex sales cycle of goods and service.  Like Consulting, Engineering, Custom Manufacturing,  Staffing...etc.

SLX Calendar as an CalDav service... so it can work better with any email client or device.

Integration with services like  eSig, DocUsign, eventbrite, cvent , etc .. Seems like MSCRM, SFDC get first priority or only priority from these companies.    Just scroll through AppExchange and you can see what people are wanting.

Again ... working with the partners and consultants are key.  Its just like a Best Buy sales person... they have more control over what people buy than any other form of marketing.
