Hello All. I'm just curious if anybody went to the Sage Summit in San Diego last year, or if anybody is going to the summit this year in Nashville.

I presented in San Diego last year, I just got an email asking for my ideas for possible presentations for this year. We'll see if they pick me. I'm a huge country music lover, and where I live in NY, we don't have any country radio so..... Nashville here I come. Can't wait.

I did check out their website's FAQ.... but couldn't find anything on the "type" of charachters they allow in... I did however find out that they employ all types, so there's hope.... "on the lookout for hard workers for such positions as wait staff, bartender, kitchen staff, security, dancers, DJs and many others."

I think Ostrich might just fall under "many others"!!!

I've been out of touch for a while. I just heard that I'm having another session this year at the summit. It's called "Making Your Database Work for You" It's on customizations. See you there

I'm trying to talk my boss into letting me go. It'd be my first. On my side is the fact that we are here in Nashville (I live only 5 minutes away from OpryLand Hotel). I'm excited to learn more about SLX7 and I'd be thrilled to meet others from the forum there. You all have been pretty awesome to this newbie thus far though, thanks!

Marc - you should go if it's that close !! If your boss won't let you go to this opportunity when it's on your doorstep - then time to find a new boss !!

LOL Lucky coincidence. I actually had my resume out on the Internet for awhile. Just waiting for the right opportunity to pop up. Lo and behold one did. The new boss recognizes the value of these things.

Some may want to venture downtown but right next to the Opryland Hotel is OpryMills (mall) and it has a Dave & Busters in it. It's within walking distance. Sports bar, bowling, pool, arcade. After 9pm they kick all the kids out too. It has its own outside entrance so it's open later than the rest of the mall. It's a fun place.

Nothing like a high sustain goldtop [drool]

The factory tours are in Memphis but they have a Gibson Showcase there in OpryMills. I've walked by it a number of times. Sometimes they have guys working on the guitars. There is a window into the mall that you can watch them work from. It's pretty cool.

They will also host music at the mall too: http://www.gibson.com/Products/Places/Showcases/Gibson%20Showcase/Calendar/

Hi Marc. So where would I got if I wanted to hang out where the celebs hang out. I don't want to do the touristy thing at all. I live on Long Island and we don't have any country music radio here. I want to soak up as much country as possible.

Natalie,

Honestly I'm not sure where the celebs hang out. Its kinda funny here. I imagine that it's similar to Hollywood in the way that all these country music stars are just viewed as regular people around here. I've, apparently, bumped into a few here and there and it was my friends later who said, hey did you know who you were next to at the salad bar?

I don't listen to country music so I don't know any of these people. LOL I think Kid Rock lives here now and I'd probably recognize him but that's about it.

As for avoiding the tourist things, avoid the OpryMills mall then. It caters to the tourist. Not that it's bad but it's not where you're likely to find many celebs. LOL You're much more likely to have fun downtown but there will be a lot of tourists there too, at least towards the weekend. Earlier in the week you might have better luck. I can't recommend any places because its been a couple years since I've gone down there. I have a little one at home now so she takes my 'party' time.

Thanks Marc. I'm no star gazer by any means. I just want to go where the locals go. How far is downtown from where the summit is taking place?

It's about 30 minutes (due to traffic not distance). The hotel MAY even provide shuttle service but I'm not certain about that.
